Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence and political stability as foundations for sustainable national development.

Yari made the appeal during a high-profile visit to the palace of the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, in Zaria, Kaduna State, where he led a delegation of prominent political leaders to seek the monarch’s royal blessings and support.

The APC chieftain used the occasion to highlight infrastructure projects being executed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly in Northern Nigeria, describing them as part of ongoing efforts to address the region’s developmental challenges.

He specifically cited the Zaria–Gusau–Sokoto and Kano–Maiduguri highways, noting their importance in improving road connectivity and supporting regional development.

Yari also stressed the need for political stability and harmonious relations among Nigerians, maintaining that sustainable development depends on a peaceful and united nation.

In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau called on political leaders to ensure peaceful general elections and place national interest above personal and partisan considerations.

The monarch urged public office holders to demonstrate patriotism and make decisions that would protect the interests of future generations.

He further emphasised the need to create an environment where children can grow, acquire quality education and fulfil their potential, warning implicitly of the responsibility leaders bear in shaping the country’s future.

The delegation featured several prominent political figures, including former governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Ahmed Sani Yerima Bakura and Rochas Okorocha, as well as former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari, alongside other political stakeholders.

The visit highlights the continued interaction between political leaders and traditional rulers, whose institutions remain influential in promoting community relations, resolving conflicts and fostering peace across Nigeria.
