Former member representing Karim-Lamido II in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Tanko Bobboi Andami, has raised alarm over the killing of residents in Binnari, Karim-Lamido Local Government Area, saying bandits have taken over nine villages in the area.

Andami, who disclosed this in a telephone interview with LMC Hausa, said the affected villages include Talajigu, Faskari, Farin Ruwa, Komodaro, Gina Rumbu, Jamaga, Mashigin Shivi and Dukun Mai - a community with three polling units which he said has been under bandits' control for two years.

According to him, about 51 corpses have been buried following the latest attack on Binnari.

He alleged that the bandits infiltrate Taraba from Plateau, Bauchi and Kaduna States.

Andami, who is the Dan Masanin Old Muri and Special Adviser on Dry Season Farming to Governor Agbu Kefas, further alleged that the bandits are hiding over one million rustled cattle in the forest.

"They sell the rustled cattle to buy arms and fund their terrorist activities," he alleged.

He called on the Federal Government to resume and complete the road project from Wase in Plateau State to Karim-Lamido in Taraba State, noting that the road, which can extend to Adamawa State, will help flush out terrorists and improve security.

Andami commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his swift response to the Binnari attack, which included deployment of security operatives and relief materials through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

"His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas took urgent steps including deploying security personnel and SEMA. We went together with the Executive Secretary of SEMA and distributed food items, mattresses and mats to the victims," he said.

He also advised Governor Kefas to collaborate with his counterparts in Plateau and Bauchi States, which share boundaries with Karim-Lamido, to ensure lasting security in the area.
