The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has appointed Ramatu Ibrahim as Acting Bursar following the death of the institution’s substantive Bursar, Nasir Marafa.

Ibrahim’s appointment takes immediate effect and is aimed at ensuring continuity in the university’s financial administration following Marafa’s death.

The appointment, THE NATIONAL LENS gathered, was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, with the concurrence of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Malam Isa Yuguda. The university’s Registrar, Oladipo Ajayi, announced the decision in a public notice.

Before her elevation, Ibrahim served as Deputy Bursar in charge of Treasury. NOUN described her as an experienced university administrator with extensive knowledge of accounting, financial management, treasury operations and other aspects of the institution’s financial system.

The university said her experience across various units of the Bursary Department would enable her to provide effective leadership and maintain efficient, transparent and accountable financial services during the transition.

NOUN management expressed confidence in her ability to perform the responsibilities of Acting Bursar with professionalism, diligence and integrity.

The institution also paid tribute to the late Marafa, describing him as a dedicated and dependable officer whose contributions to the university’s financial administration and institutional development would be remembered.
