Court Sets October 26 to Rule on El-Rufai’s No-Case Submission

By Asma'u Bashir

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed October 26, 2026, to deliver its ruling on the no-case submission filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the ongoing trial over alleged unlawful wiretapping.

The National Lens reports that El-Rufai is facing trial in connection with allegations that he unlawfully intercepted telephone conversations involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

At the resumed proceedings, counsel for both the prosecution and the defence adopted their respective written addresses on the no-case submission filed by the former governor.

The prosecution urged the court to dismiss the no-case submission and direct El-Rufai to enter his defence, maintaining that the evidence presented before the court warranted his being called upon to defend himself.

After listening to the submissions of both parties, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the matter until October 26, 2026, for ruling on the no-case submission.

The ruling will determine whether El-Rufai will be required to proceed with his defence or whether the case against him will be brought to an end at that stage.
