Borno Parents Give FG Six Days to Rescue 80 Children or Storm Villa
Parents of about 80 children abducted from Mussa and Lassa communities in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State have given the Federal Government a six-day ultimatum to secure their children’s release, threatening to storm the Presidential Villa in Abuja if action is not taken.
The affected parents made the demand during a protest in Maiduguri, where they appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene directly and ensure the safe return of the children, who have reportedly remained in captivity for months.
The parents said they would mobilise to Abuja and take their protest to the Presidential Villa if the government failed to rescue the children within the six-day deadline.
Chairman of the Mussa Parents of Abductees, Shuaibu Umaru, expressed frustration over the prolonged captivity of the children and appealed to the Federal Government to treat their rescue as an emergency.
He questioned why efforts that had resulted in the recovery of abducted children in other parts of the country could not be replicated for the victims from Mussa and Lassa.
The member representing Askira/Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Midala Usman Balami, has also called for urgent action to secure the release of the abducted children.
Balami said the children had reportedly been in captivity since May 15, 2026, urging the Federal and Borno State governments to deploy every necessary resource to bring them home safely.
The abductions have also affected education in the area, with insecurity forcing the closure of several schools and leaving many children unable to continue their studies.
The parents said their planned journey to Abuja would be their next step if the six-day deadline expired without tangible action, insisting that they would not stop demanding the safe return of their children.
