A Kaduna couple abducted alongside their six-month-old daughter have regained their freedom, bringing relief to their family and others who had followed their ordeal with concern.

The victims, identified as Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, Fatima, were reportedly released on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The National Lens reports that the family was said to be on its way back to Kaduna metropolis at the time the development was reported.

A retired security officer, who had been working with his team to secure the victims’ release, confirmed the development, attributing their freedom to the combined efforts of government authorities, security agencies, his team and some private individuals.

The source, who requested anonymity, said the family was returning home in a vehicle driven by his driver.

However, details surrounding the circumstances of their release, including whether any ransom was paid, had not been disclosed as of the time of reporting.

Zakka, his wife and their daughter were abducted from their residence in Alrahus Estate, Millennium City, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6.

Their abduction attracted widespread public concern after a disturbing video circulated on social media, showing Zakka holding his infant daughter while appealing for help, with an armed captor standing nearby.

The incident renewed concerns over the security situation in communities around Kaduna metropolis and the persistent threat posed by kidnappers.

The family’s reported release offers a moment of relief amid continuing concerns over the safety of residents in affected communities.
