Iran Draws a Red Line: U.S. Warships Will Never Be Allowed Back into the Persian Gulf

Iran’s Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Ali Abdollahi, has vowed that Iran will not allow U.S. warships to return to the Persian Gulf or approach its territorial waters.

According to Iran Press News Agency, Abdollahi, who also commands the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Iran’s armed forces had rendered the U.S. Navy ineffective and would prevent American military vessels from entering the strategic waterway.

He said U.S. President Donald Trump would have to “dream” of the return of American forces to the Persian Gulf, stressing that Iran would not permit U.S. warships to re-enter the region.

Abdollahi also warned that any country providing assistance to the U.S. aggression against Iran would face a forceful response.

He added that Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) would work together to target the source of any attack against the country.
