Abbas Flags Off Renewed Hope Empowerment Programme in Zaria
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has flagged off a Renewed Hope Empowerment Programme in Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, with the distribution of vocational and business equipment aimed at promoting job creation, boosting incomes and improving livelihoods.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Abbas said the initiative was designed to translate the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into tangible benefits for residents through practical support for small businesses, artisans and skilled workers.
The equipment distributed under the programme included sewing machines, freezers, diagnostic scanners, mechanical tools, vulcanising machines, car wash machines, welding equipment and solar power systems.
According to the Speaker, the items were not merely gifts but tools intended to help beneficiaries turn their skills into sustainable sources of income.
“These sewing machines, freezers, diagnostic scanners, mechanical tools, vulcanising machines, car wash machines, welding equipment and solar systems are not gifts. They are starters,” Abbas said.
He urged the beneficiaries to maintain the equipment, provide quality services to customers and keep proper business records to ensure the sustainability and growth of their enterprises.
He also encouraged them to support the development of others by passing on their skills and training aspiring artisans as their businesses expanded.
Abbas said the empowerment initiative reflected a commitment to addressing the economic needs of communities through interventions that create employment opportunities, strengthen small businesses and improve living standards.
He noted that collaboration with President Tinubu, the National Assembly and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, was helping to translate community needs into practical development projects.
The Speaker also called on residents to remain united, protect peace and resist attempts to create divisions among neighbours through misinformation.
He urged the people to assess political leaders based on their performance and contributions to community development.
Abbas further appealed to constituents to renew their confidence in President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their representatives ahead of the next political cycle, specifically referencing January 16, 2027.
The programme forms part of efforts to promote grassroots economic empowerment by providing beneficiaries with equipment to establish or expand businesses, improve productivity and create opportunities for self-employment.
