THE NATIONAL LENS Management Condoles Hotpen Editor Aliyu Dangida Over Wife’s Death

The management of THE NATIONAL LENS and TNL HAUSA has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Hotpen Newspaper and 'Mahangar Arewa' Magazine, Mallam Aliyu Muhammad Dangida, over the death of his beloved wife, Hajiya Maryam Abdullahi Gote.

Hajiya Maryam reportedly passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Kano after an illness.

In this condolence message, the management of THE NATIONAL LENS described her death as a painful loss to Mallam Dangida, his family and the wider media community, particularly given the important support she provided to her husband.

The management noted that the contributions and sacrifices of spouses behind media practitioners often go unrecognised, despite the vital role they play in supporting journalists, publishers and other media professionals in carrying out their responsibilities to society.

THE NATIONAL LENS joins the family, colleagues, friends and associates of Mallam Dangida in mourning the deceased and praying for strength, comfort and fortitude for the bereaved family.

The management also commiserated with Mallam Dangida during this difficult period, urging him and the family to take solace in Allah’s decree and the cherished memories left behind by the deceased.

The condolence comes as the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, also expressed sympathy to Mallam Dangida over the loss.

Our correspondent reports that the Sultan described Dangida as an effective member representing the North-West on his Media Team and acknowledged the support the late Hajiya Maryam provided to her husband in his media and public engagements.

The Sultan prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant her 'Al-Jannatul Firdaus,' while urging the bereaved family to accept the loss as part of Allah’s divine decree.

May Allah Ta’ala, in His infinite mercy, forgive Hajiya Maryam Abdullahi Gote, have mercy upon her soul, grant her Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give her family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
