PDP Flags Off Ogun 2027 Governorship Campaign Amid Massive Crowd

By Habeebah Sanda Lemu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially commenced its campaign for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, drawing a massive crowd of supporters and party loyalists to the flag-off ceremony.

THE NATIONAL LENS reports that the event marks a major step in the party’s efforts to regain control of Ogun State ahead of the 2027 election, with party leaders using the occasion to rally members and supporters around its governorship candidate.

The large turnout underscored the level of mobilisation within the party as the PDP begins its campaign activities across the state.

The development is expected to intensify the political contest in Ogun, where the PDP will be seeking to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

In the 2023 governorship election, the APC’s Dapo Abiodun defeated the PDP candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, by a relatively narrow margin.

The PDP’s latest mobilisation therefore signals an early push to consolidate its support base and mount a stronger challenge in the next governorship poll.
