Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has led a state delegation to Kuwait to explore development financing, technical expertise and strategic partnerships for major projects under the state’s 2024–2056 Development Plan.
During discussions with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Ododo presented Kogi’s priority areas, including water infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture, renewable energy, solid minerals and industrial development. The Kuwait Fund expressed readiness in principle to work with the state, subject to technical, financial and institutional assessments.
The proposed cooperation is expected to cover project preparation, feasibility studies, engineering designs and technical assistance. The state is also seeking support for infrastructure that could improve irrigation and agricultural production, expand renewable energy and power development, and promote value addition in the solid minerals sector.
Beyond financing discussions, the Kogi delegation held talks with Kuwait University on possible collaboration in education, research, innovation, engineering, agriculture and technology. Discussions were also held with Kuwait’s electricity, water and renewable energy authorities on potential cooperation in water infrastructure, irrigation and power development.
The delegation also explored investment and industrial cooperation with the Al Ahmadi Governorate. According to the report, the engagements are expected to move into a technical phase involving feasibility studies, project documentation and other assessments before implementation.
