I sometimes wonder who, in his right mind and with sound judgment, would seriously entertain the idea of Barau Jibril losing this titanic political contest. One can only wonder at the narrow-minded and myopic politicians who believe they can engineer an upset. Imagine political dreamers who genuinely perceive the possibility of truncating the Senator’s political strength and influence. Then there are those who, blinded by political animosity, may believe they can align with opposition forces to stop the seemingly unstoppable political train whose destination may one day surpass even the expectations of its admirers.
To contemplate defeating this political maestro may, in the eyes of his supporters, remain little more than an illusion and a mirage.
The formation and official unveiling of Barau Jibril’s Kano North political campaign team, considering the calibre of politicians assembled, is enough to underline the formidable political machinery behind his campaign. The team possesses the political strength, experience and organisational capacity required to compete effectively in virtually any electoral contest, not only for the Senate but, in the view of its supporters, even at the presidential level.
It is difficult to identify many politicians who would willingly take on not only the opposition but also potential internal challengers and other political forces that could seek to block their return to the upper echelon of power and influence. Yet the target here is none other than one of the most accomplished, influential and politically consequential figures of his generation, Senator Barau Jibril Maliya.
His supporters would argue that the Senator remains several steps ahead of his political challengers. With his considerable experience and established political structure, they believe he possesses the capacity to withstand opposition from both outside and within his political camp.
One can confidently argue that the Senator has the political capacity and machinery to confront even the most determined of his challengers. However, politics, with its established rules of engagement, requires every serious contestant to build, organise and assemble a team of political associates and trusted allies capable of advancing a common agenda.
Against this backdrop, a careful look at the list of formidable political figures entrusted with the responsibility of prosecuting the much-anticipated political battle reveals a team whose political experience, antecedents, networks, proven records and substantial grassroots followership could make it a formidable force.
The team would be difficult to overlook, and no serious political opponent should underestimate a group of political actors determined to advance the interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Barau Jibril and other APC candidates.
While the major opposition, in what may appear to some as a questionable political calculation, has chosen Nasiru Sule Garo to challenge the Senator in the electoral contest, questions may naturally arise about the political strategy behind the decision.
If unconfirmed reports alleging that some individuals within the same political camp, alongside external forces, are quietly supporting the perceived challenger are anything to go by, such manoeuvring could still prove politically insignificant if the prevailing political realities remain unchanged.
At best, it would represent an attempt to create an upset in a contest where the balance of political strength appears heavily tilted in one direction.
The powerful campaign team is expected to confront every political challenge and counter any political calculation by those who believe an upset is possible.
Beyond the political mastery attributed by his supporters to the globally recognised Senator, the campaign team itself brings together considerable political strategy, experience and proven records.
Together, they are expected to mount a vigorous campaign designed to consolidate support and present a formidable challenge to the opposition and its perceived allies.

Moreover, there is little need to dwell extensively on the Senator’s achievements, political influence, impact and contributions to the development of his constituency and the nation at large. From this perspective, any politician seeking to stop him at the polls would first have to contend with the formidable political structure that surrounds him.
And now, with the unveiling of the Kano North campaign team, the political contest has entered another dimension. The calibre of individuals assembled, their political experience, extensive networks and organisational capacity will undoubtedly be put to the test as the campaign gathers momentum.
