El-Rufai Disappointed By Silence Of Former Associates

By Asma'u Bashir Bello, Kaduna

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has spoken about the silence of some former colleagues, friends and associates amid his current circumstances, saying difficult times have given him a clearer view of his relationships.

In a statement titled “My Relationships and the Aftermath,” El-Rufai said he had stood by people and causes he believed in without expecting praise, gratitude or support in return. He said those decisions were guided by his faith, personal values and conscience.

El-Rufai said those he previously supported are free to decide whether to speak, remain silent or distance themselves from past relationships. He added that his experiences in recent months may lead him to quietly reconsider some relationships, stressing that this was not intended as condemnation.

The former governor said he has no regrets about supporting people when he believed it was right and bears no resentment towards those who have chosen not to do the same for him. He also said he seeks neither revenge nor retribution, leaving ultimate accountability to Almighty Allah.
